right|thumb Sharps Brewery is located in Rock, in north Cornwall. It was founded in 1994, and has has grown into the largest breweries of cask conditioned beer in the south west UK. Their primary output, Doom Bar bitter, has become particularly widespread throughout the south of England and has won multiple awards.

Sharps brew three main beers plus three others, which are less commonly found.
Doom Bar (4%
abv)
A medium bitter. Named after the
Doom Bar, an offshore sandbank in the
Camel Estuary, Doom Bar has been a
CAMRA Beer of the year (2004) and has been finalist in the
Great British Beer Festival for the last three years. Bottled Doom Bar was also recognised at the International Beer Awards 2006 an 2008 winning a place in the World's Top 50 Bottled Beers.
Atlantic IPA (4.9% abv)
A dry beer, higher in alcohol as is typical of IPAs. The labelling bears the logo of the
RNLI, and some proportion of sales is donated to them.
Eden Pure Ale (4.4% abv)
A lighter ale with more hop flavour. The website states it is made with least environmental impact, in conjunction with the
Eden Project. It is generally more widely available bottled, rather than in cask format. Eden was named Supreme Champion Ale in the CAMRA Cornish beer festival 2000, and awarded a Silver award in the 2005 Taste of the West Awards.

Memorial to Chalky
In 2007, Sharp's Brewery teamed up with Rick Stein, who owns a restaurant across the estuary in Padstow, to produce a new beer - Chalky's Bite (6.8% abv), which was spiced with fennel and was designed as an accompaniment to fish dishes. [1] The popularity of this beer led to a second collaboration in 2009, creating Chalky's Bark [2], spiced this time with ginger, and designed to complement spicy foods.
Social responsibility
Sharps make an effort to minimise environmental impact in terms of waste, CO2 emissions and water use. They won Low Carbon business of the year at the Cornwall Sustainability Awards, and according to the website are the first UK brewer to issue an enforceable responsible drinking policy. They have a joint venture with the Eden Project, and support the RNLI as well as several sports teams.
