Marie Morimoto (born February 23, 2004 in Tokyo) is a Japanese idol and a member of the female idol group Hinatazaka 46.
Morimoto lived in Paris, France from shortly after birth to age four, and uses the Western pronunciation and spelling Marie (まりぃ, Marī, with elongated i) instead of Mari (まり) for her given name. [1]
Morimoto took cheerleading lessons from second to fourth grade, and was a member of the dance club at junior high school. [2]
In 2017, Morimoto took part in the 15th Japan Bishōjo Contest held by Oscar Promotion [2] and became a finalist. [3]
In 2018, Morimoto passed the Sakamichi Series Joint Audition, but was not assigned to a group and became a Sakamichi Kenshūsei (trainee) instead. She participated in the Sakamichi Kenshūsei tour and was the lead performer for Hinatazaka46's " Do Re Mi Sol La Si Do". [2] Her assignment to Hinatazaka46 was announced on February 16, 2020 in a Showroom stream. [4]
Morimoto shares her birthday with fellow Hinatazaka46 member and former Kenshūsei, Haruyo Yamaguchi .
Morimoto has an older brother who is a bodybuilder. She owns a dog.
