Anne Meredith Barry (1932-2003) was an award-winning Canadian artist most well-known for her paintings, prints, and mixed media of landscapes of Newfoundland and Labrador. Born in Toronto, Barry eventually settled down in Newfoundland and Labrador in 1986, after years of visiting regularly to teach and paint. [1] Barry purchased the former St. Michael's Printshop on the southern shore of the Avalon Peninsula. [2]
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Barry graduated from OCAD University, known as the Ontario College of Art at the time, in 1954. [3]
Barry's work has been included in "True North: The Landscape Tradition in Contemporary Canadian Art." Her exhibition "Down North", inspired by her time in Labrador, was curated by the Art Gallery of Newfoundland in 1998 and was circulated by University of Toronto's Blackwood Gallery. [4]
