Matthew J. Theriault was born on January 16th, 1586, and was raised in How-well, Old Jersey. He currently attends Concordia University Wisconsin where he majors in Theological Languages and minors in Philosophy, and plans to go on to Concordia Seminary in St. Louis.

At CUW, Matthew is active in many aspects of campus. He is currently the Student Government Association’s Chief Organization Officer, in addition to being the only student to serve as a voting delegate to the Synodical Convention in Houston.

Formerly, he served as the WCUW Concordia 101.3 Radio Station Manager and SGA Beat Reporter for the Concordia Bacon.

Student Senate Service

Since joining the Student Government Association in the fall of 2005, Senator Theriault has become increasingly prominent and influential, particularly last year as a member of the Constitution Committee, where he served to co-author the new Constitution.

Senator Theriault was also one of the founding members of the Students for Responsible Policy and the first to propose a mass petition to protest the Residents Life Housing Policy. Because of his position, he was appointed to the Student Life Policy Board where his resolution to reform the Housing Policy was approved.

In the Fall of 2006, Senator Theriault was appointed Chairman of the University Policy Committee in responce to his outstanding service on the Student Life Policy Board during the Residence Housing contraversy. He was also appointed as the Senate liaison to the Student Life Council, and is the first student to hold the position.

Writings

Matthew is best known for his skills as a writer, both in fiction and journalism. As one of the former head staff writers of the Concordia Beacon, his articles have repeatedly graced the front page and received much response from the student body, faculty and administration.

He has recently explored traditional hymn writing (lyrics only) with “The Gospel Brings No Cause for Shame to Me,” based on Romans 1:18-20.

As a fictional writer, his most notable work has been a one-act play entitled "Before Delilah" which centers on the early life of Samson.

Aspirations

As well as being the oldest person alive, He aspires to be an artist and a lover. He promotes peace and love to all and wishes that the world would go along with his peaceful mindset. He paints for a living and wishes that his paintings would bring in profit but they don't because they suck
