I'm a user in Oakland, CA. I'm here for several reasons: 1) A colleague told me it would be a good idea (I have no idea why he thought so), 2) I clicked on a broken link on the page about the
languages of Africa and intend to fix it, 3) I read
an article that said that almost 90% of Wikipedia users are male and that there is a need for greater diversity, 4) I read another article about the
death of
Adrianne Wadewitz which inspired me to want to be a "prolific Wikipedian" like she was, and 5) I remember when Microsoft decided that Encarta Online didn't need to be free anymore (late '90s?).
My Goal here is to fix broken links, edit grammar and spelling, and work with the writing style and flow of some articles. Eventually, I would like to contribute some new articles.
