Bohdi Sanders William Bohdi Sanders (born December 21, 1962) is a bestselling author, philosopher, and martial artist. He is the author of eight books. His books focus on the philosophy of living life with character, honor, and integrity and he integrates these traits with his martial arts and self-defense experience to create some of the most unique self-help books on the market. He coined the term: The Warrior Lifestyle [1] and teaches the philosophy of the warrior lifestyle to his readers throughout the world. Bohdi’s books are very popular with both martial artists and the general public alike. The philosophy that he teaches applies to life in general and not just martial arts. His top selling book, Modern Bushido: Living a Life of Excellence, hit #1 on Amazon.com three times and reached the top 10 for a total of 98 weeks.

Early Life Bohdi Sanders grew up in rural Mississippi and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent a lot of his time with both his great grandfather and his grandfather, and both had a huge influence on the way he looks at the world and his philosophy. He was an all-around athlete winning awards in football, baseball, and track during his high school years. In football, he played as a starter on both sides of the ball, playing defensive end and running back. He also returned punts and kickoffs. He played pitcher, shortstop, and second base in baseball, and was the fastest member of the school track team. After high school, Bohdi entered school at the of Mississippi where he studied computer science and business administration.

Education Bohdi Sanders spent three years in school at the of Mississippi studying computer science and business, before he transferred to the University of Wyoming. After taking several years off from school in order to support his young family, he went back to school in CO and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Lewis College, along with his teaching credentials. He later received his Masters degree from Canyon University and went on to receive his doctorate in health in 2001. He also has completed coursework from the of Colorado.

Books and Writing Dr. Sanders has written eight published books and hundreds of articles throughout his writing career. Three of his books have won national book awards [2] [3] and he has received worldwide recognition for his contribution to the martial arts community. In addition to his books, Dr. Bohdi Sanders is also a columnist for Times Magazine and for World Martial Arts Magazine, where he contributes to a popular blog, and also writes weekly articles on social media.

Martial Arts Experience Bohdi Sanders begin his martial arts training, studying [2] karate, in 1984 with Nikki Allen in Monroe, LA. After he left Louisiana, he trained with several Shotokan instructors in Wyoming and Colorado. In 1994, he began training with Sensei William E. Jackson. Bohdi trained with [3] Jackson up through the rank of Go-Dan or 5th degree black belt in Shotokan in 2005. In 2014, Dr. Sanders was honored with the title of [4] from such esteemed martial artists as the Founder of Wun Hop Kuen Do Al Dacascos, Colonel Phil Torres, U.S. Marines (retired), three time world champion Eddie Mapula, Sr., Grandmaster William Willard, founder of Odori Kumo (Dancing Spider) Combat Martial Arts, Hanshi Joseph Slonski, and Sensei Bill Holman.
