Continental West was a subsidiary of Continental Airlines between 1985 and 1988. It was established as Continental faced bankruptcy and to compete with AirCal and PSA, it was very similar to United Shuttle. The airline had very low fares such as $29USD from Los Angeles to San Jose one-way.

History

Continental West started flights in the western USA flying from 4 destinations: Los Angeles, Portland, Salt Lake City and Seattle and also later San Jose and San Francisco. The airline flew its own B737's airplanes as Continental emerged from bankruptcy it later operated DC-9's on its routes. The airline was shut down in 1988 after legal threats were made by America West Airlines and Continetal decided to shut down the airline.
