The British Olympic Association Archive is an archive which contains material relating to the history and work of the Association from 1906 - 2009. The archive is currently held at the University of East London, which was chosen as the host in the run up to the 2012 London Olympic Games. [1] [2]
The British Olympic Association (BOA) was formed in the House of Commons on 24 May 1905, with William Henry Grenfell MP elected as its first chairman. The BOA's main objective was to increase the profile of the Olympic Games within Great Britain, and to ensure that Great Britain sporting associations had sway within the Olympic Games Committee. The archive contains minutes from committee meetings which detail the work undertaken by the BOA in its formative years. [3]
