Season 1

Pilot

As Beaugard is sent to Earth as a mortal after making a deal in the lower plane, he is now forced to live a human life as Will who is living with a jobless ex-drug addict named Quentin - later revealed to be the guy that Will had spared his obligations as a higher guardian to one of the Older Ones. Starting off his anew normality, he goes to high school as a junior where he is met by Adam. The two quickly befriended one another, where Adam reveals to Will that he was actually adopted. Eventually, Will meets Adam's sister Loren where a special spark between the two could have shone a new light in Will's humanity.

Damned

In flashbacks, Loren recalls to Will about how her mother, Kathy alongside with her sister Jackie, went into a car accident on her thirteenth birthday. In the present, Loren's ex-boyfriend Rick unknowingly meets Sefton - an Older One from the lower plane - where things soon take a frightening turn in the bar. Meanwhile, Quentin tries to work part time as a volunteer medic where he then encounters Sefton - revealed to be entity whose trying to get his soul damned, where instead he threatens him and takes the soul of a nurse by killing her. On the other hand, Will meets Adam and Loren's father Jonah where he learns that he is a local missionary who had a past-almost-death experience, having had Will conclude that he might know about the higher place. In the end, Quentin reveals to Will that Sefton is in town where Will might have understand his primary agenda.

Rising

During the weekend, Will and Quentin take a trip to a more secluded area in town where they meet with a cult and demonology expert and medium named Abigail, wanting to know more about Sefton and his role in the lower plane - which is revealed to be a prominent soul taker of the sinful. Meanwhile, Sefton persuades and controls Rick's best friend and lacrosse teammate Zach to watch over Jonah and his family where he then tells Zach to be close with Loren. Adam himself faces problems of his own as he starts to get visions and dreams of the guardian named Locke and a woman named Deborah - later revealed to be his biological mother.

Party

Will and Quentin now temporarily stays in with Abigail to have Quentin safe from having Sefton take his soul. Back in school, Will, Adam and Rick are called to the principal's office to meet Mr. Hamilton where in the middle of their meeting, a student and fellow teammate of Rick and Zach named Mark is seen having had hanged himself in the locker rooms. Meanwhile, Sefton persuades popular student Harper to throw a party and invite all the students where later that night, Will meets up with Zach, Gwen and Eli - all revealed to be under Sefton's control. In the party, Zach trails Loren where he eventually gets into a fight with Rick while Gwen flirts with Adam and Will finally confronting Sefton where in the short-run of the confrontation, Will left with no choice kills Eli - Mr. Hamilton's son, with Sefton taking away his soul. In the end, it is seen that Zach continues to stalk Loren on her way home until her father Jonah appears and Will reminisces of his actions on killing a human where he eventually accepts it saying "game on" at the last scene.
