Rhoda B was an American Thoroughbred mare who was imported to England.
Rhoda B was a brown mare foaled in 1895. [1] She was bred by J. B. and H. H. Stanhope of South Elkhorn, Kentucky. [2] Rhoda B's sire was Hanover, a son of Hindoo. [3] Her dam was Margerine by Algerine. [1] Margerine's dam was the imported mare Sweet Songstress who was sired by Doncaster. [4] Sweet Songstress' dam was Melodius by either Forester or Peppermint. [2]
Rhoda B was bred in the United States but was exported to England prior to the implementation of the Jersey Act in 1913. [5] She was a yearling when she was sent to England in 1896, and she was listed in the General Stud Book. [3]
Rhoda B was the dam of Orby, who won the Epsom Derby. [6] Orby was noted as a sprinting sire, and he got his speed from his dam. [5] She was also the dam of Rhodora, who won the 1000 Guineas in 1908. [7]
