Sedicii is an Irish Cyber-Security company based in the Arclabs, Carriganore, Waterford, Ireland and with offices in London and Tenerife ^[1]. Sedicii has developed a system whereby passwords and other identifying data do not have to be transmitted to verify user’s identity, it is done through a process known as ZKP (Zero Knowledge Proof).

About

Sedicii was founded in 2013 by Rob Leslie who is also the co-founder of another Irish company called Kyckr (ASX:KYK) which listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in September 2016 and provides organisational identity services for KYC & AML services to banks and other regulated financial institutions ^[2]. Sedicii has developed and patented a technology based on the Zero Knowledge Proof Protocol that eliminates the transmission, storage and exposure of private user data during authentication or identity verification, which reduces identity theft, impersonation and any fraud resulting from the identity theft. The Zero Knowledge Proof (ZKP) authentication protocol is used in cryptography systems to allow a party to prove that he/she knows something (i.e. a credential), without having to transmit this credential ^[3]. There are two parties involved in ZKP; the prover A and the verifier B. ZKP allows a prover A to show that they have the credential (for example, a credit card number or password), without having to give B the exact details of the credential ^[4]. Sedicii Zero-Knowledge Authentication (ZKA) is a framework which allows companies to implement a proven protocol to allow for secure login without the need of transmitting the password or hash over the network. ZKA eliminates the need to store password hashes in the database, thus, if a hacker can obtain access to the database, he/she will still not be able to crack the passwords. The algorithm behind the system has been developed solely for the Sedicii Authentication process and is protected by US patent #8,411,854. ^[5]

Sedicii has won a number of highly commendable awards, most notably in 2015 it was named as one of the World Economic Forum’s most promising technology pioneers, joining a list of past recipients such as Google, Wikimedia, Mozilla, Kickstarter and Dropbox ^[6]. In April 2014 it was a winner at the BT infinity lab innovation awards ^[7], as well as countless other awards such as winner of the EY Startup Challenge in London ^[8] which followed its victory in the European Commission Ipacso awards as best privacy company ^[9] and the Irish Times/ITLG Silicon Valley Innovation of the Year in 2014 ^[10].
