Anjan Lahiri is the CEO of Birlasoft, [1] the $xxx million global IT services company of the CK Birla Group. Birlasoft offers solutions and service architectures in banking, financial services, insurance and manufacturing industries. The $1.6 billion CK Birla Group is a conglomerate with interests in automotives and technology, home and building, health care and education. [2]

Lahiri has been in the IT industry for more than 25 years. He began his career with Wipro Infotech in 1987 as part of the sales team and then moved on to start Cambridge Technology Partners’ internet services consulting practice in the US. In 1999, Lahiri along with ex-colleagues from Wipro [3] and Cambridge Technology Partners [4] set up Mindtree and helped it grow into one of India’s leading mid-sized IT services companies. Lahiri set up Mindtree’s offices in New Jersey, San Jose and London, and rapidly expanded the company’s operations in the US and Europe. [5] He returned to India in 2008, as the head of IT Services at Mindtree. [6]

He moved on from Mindtree in 2013 to take on new challenges, especially in the field of technology. [7] Until recently, he was the CEO of the Bangalore-based Sasken Communication Technologies where he focused on turning around the loss-making company. At Sasken, Lahiri set up a new management team, extensively engaged with customers and personally led the revival of growth in the top 10 customers. He revamped the HR division and drove a business-oriented cultural change. [8] [9]

Lahiri is an alumnus of the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, where he earned a Bachelor of Technology degree in electrical and electronics engineering. Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, is part of the CK Birla Group. He also holds an MBA from the University of Florida, Gainesville, USA. [10]

He is a member of the Young Presidents Organization, a global peer network of chief executives and business leaders. He counts reading and running as part of his hobbies. He is married and loves to spend time with his two daughters, aged 13 and 10. [11]
