A Dictionary of Music and Musicians (Grove, 1880s) Information
This was apparently intended to be a three-volume dictionary, and volumes one and two were published in 1880. However volume three, published in 1883, ends partway through the letter S, and the words "in three volumes" have been removed from the title page after printing.
On the back of each cover page is a notice to the effect that the books were actually printed by the Oxford University printers.
