The commercial port of Sète is a French Mediterranean commercial port located in the municipalities of Frontignan and Sète in the Hérault.

History

Commercial port of Sète born in 1666 by a wish of Louis XIV to create a port for the export regional products.

It is connected to the Canal du Midi and the Canal du Rhône in Sète.

It is managed by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sète - Frontignan - Mèze. .

The commercial port has been owned by the region since 2007.In 2016 the port of sète celebrated its 350th anniversary, for the occasion several of the world's largest sailing ships, bourbon towing ships, ships of the time and many others gathered to celebrate the event.

Economy

The port is open to passenger traffic and general cargo, including containers and heavy goods but also Roll-on / Roll-off vessel.

The port has a ferry terminal for ferry passengers departing for Tangier, Nador for regular lines, as well as for cruises.The port also has a part that can accommodate sailboats and other pleasure craft.
