FirstPoint USA

FirstPoint USA is a British-based sports scholarship agency, headquartered in Glasgow, that provides assistance to talented sportsmen & women wishing to pursue their academic and playing careers at an American college or university. [1] The company was founded in 2001 by former University of Cincinnati All-American soccer player and Hall of Fame inductee, Andrew Kean [2], with the assistance of the Princes Youth Business Trust [3]

The company has secured scholarships for over 7,000 sportsmen & women from across the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand; brokering over $150 million on their behalf in the process. FirstPoint employs a team of over 20 staff to manage the scholarship process on behalf of its athletes, with many of our team former scholarship athletes themselves. [4]

NCAA Certification

In 2012, FirstPoint became one of the first international companies in the world to be awarded 'Certified & Approved' status by the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), a status that it still carries to this day. [5]

Awards

In 2015, FirstPoint was named 'Sports Business of the Year' by the Government-backed ' Sporting Chance Initiative'. [6]. The company's founder, Andrew Kean, was named as a finalist for the Shell LIVEwire Entrepreneur of the Year award and Royal Bank of Scotland Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards, respectively. [7] In 2002, he was named as a finalist for the 'Scotsman of the Year' award alongside Sir Jackie Stewart, Sir Ian Wilmut, and Baron George Robertson of Port Ellen.
