History
The UMass Donahue Institute was founded to offer applied research, training, and technical assistance to enhance the performance and effectiveness of organizations across various sectors. [2] It was originally established by Maurice A. Donahue in 1971 as the Institute for Governmental Services at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In February 1989 the institute was renamed in his honor and is now known as the UMass Donahue Institute. [2]
