The Defiant [1] is an American punk rock supergroup consisting of vocalist Dicky Barrett ( The Mighty Mighty BossToneS), Pete Parada ( The Offspring), Greg Camp ( Smash Mouth), Johnny Rioux ( Street Dogs), and Joey La Rocca ( The Briggs).
The band began as the result of writing sessions between Barrett, Camp and Parada during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, following Parada's controversial departure [2] from The Offspring in 2021. [3]
Of the band's conception and musical direction, Barrett says: “All I’ve ever really wanted to do is bring people together and share a message of peace, love, and unity. With that in mind, the music created by The Defiant could very well be some of the best I’ve ever had a hand in making, as well as one of the most important and thoughtful musical experiences of my career. I am thrilled to be a part of it.” [4]
The band released their debut album "If We're Really Being Honest" on October 27, 2023, through Cranberry Bog Records, immediately followed by a string of promotional appearances on Timcast IRL and other television and internet programs.
Quickly following the release of the record, the band announced a major US tour supporting Me First and the Gimme Gimmes [5] in Spring of 2024.
The band performed their single Dead Language [6] on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on April 3, 2024.
