Sources

What is the source for all these "janapadas" being included in "Bharata Khanda"? The article Bharata Khanda appears to be full of original research, and has been tagged as such since last year. Until that article is better sourced or cleaned up, this template should be removed from all these articles. utcursch | talk 15:19, 11 February 2016 (UTC) reply

Bharata Khanda

This template has been named "Bharata Khanda and Janapadas." Bharata Khanda is an ill-defined concept. The page on it is in a sorry state without tons of unattended tags. I don't believe it is of a good enough quality to form the basis of a template. Hence, I retitled the template to "Janapadas of Ancient India." Anybody that wants to put Bharata Khanda in the title should first improve the article page with reliable historical sources. - Kautilya3 ( talk) 15:21, 11 February 2016 (UTC) reply

That's much better. This template should probably be renamed to something more specific though, depending on the sources added (in future) to the article Bharata Khanda. Some of these -- such as Sina and Mlechchha -- were definitely not part of "Bharata". Also, as far as I know, the simultaneous existence of these kingdoms is mentioned only in legendary / semi-legendary texts. So, "Kingdoms mentioned in Mahabharata" or something similar would be better. utcursch | talk 16:02, 11 February 2016 (UTC) reply
OK, that makes sense. I didn't notice that all these janapadas came from Mahabharata. I will wait for a day for the creator of the template to give his opinion. - Kautilya3 ( talk) 19:31, 11 February 2016 (UTC) reply
Since the template creator hasn't responded, I'll go ahead and move the template. utcursch | talk 01:01, 9 July 2016 (UTC) reply
@ Kautilya3 and Utcursch: How about nominating Bharata Khanda at AfD? TrangaBellam ( talk) 14:08, 4 February 2022 (UTC) reply
There is a valid article to be written about Hindu Geography but this is unsalvageable. TrangaBellam ( talk) 14:10, 4 February 2022 (UTC) reply
Nuking everything is always a way out but I am not convinced the title. Gives 27 hits in GScholar, of which about 10 are reliable. TrangaBellam ( talk) 18:52, 5 February 2022 (UTC) reply
