How can Edgardo Alfonzo and Jason Botts both wear the same number?

Well for now, let Alfonzo have the number since he got it after Botts did. It's the same thing with Luis Mendoza. They didn't change the players numbers after they changed it. --

Coaches Numbers
Does anybody know the coaches numbers for the 2009 season. I know Mike Maddux wears #31

Read each individual bio from that site and the information is provided.
Gary Pettis, in addition to being 1st base coach, is the OF coach as well.
Dave Anderson, in addition to being 3rd base coach, is the IF coach as well.
Jackie Moore, in addition to being bench coach, is the catching instructor as well. —Preceding

coaches are only listed by the standard roles - most teams have coaches serving other roles - they are not listed as such because MLB doesn't.
