Notes

Kolekole beach park I think is owned by the county of Hawaii, not a state park. See http://www.co.hawaii.hi.us/parks/Camping.htm#Kolekole_Beach_Park,_South_Hilo

Should there some links in here for county parks too? Maybe one list for each county some day. But probably should cover the fed and state ones first. W Nowicki ( talk) 03:48, 14 September 2009 (UTC) reply

Tighten up?

Right now it looks inconsistent: the federal areas just have the name and not the appended title, e.g. "Hawaii Volcanoes" not "Hawaii Volcanoes National Park". This makes sense to me since otherwise the template takes up too much space, but the state ones seem to include the title. Perhaps because some are "Recreation Area" etc. but I think the distinction is arbitrary and both are often used interchangably. So anyone mind if we get rid of them? That is, Kukaniloko Birthstones instead of Kukaniloko Birthstones State Monument? W Nowicki ( talk) 21:09, 23 August 2010 (UTC) reply

I would keep the distinctions between Monuments, Waysides and Nature Preserves vs. Parks and Recreation Areas. There is a difference in historic significance, facilities and activities. Parks and recreation areas seem to be very similar to each other, so the ending could be dropped to save room. However, I'm not sure how much tighter the template will get, and since it is automatically collapsed, it only matters when the template is expanded. Jllm06 ( talk) 13:24, 24 August 2010 (UTC) reply
