New template

To reduce redlinks, i think its better to create a List of power stations in xxx for each country. And if the country has only one technology-specific power plant list (ie. List of nuclear power stations in xxx), to redirect it to List of power stations in xxx. Or, vice versa, if the List of power stations in xxx have very few to display, and the country has a large List of [technology specific] power stations in xxx, then to at least create a redirect. This would greately increase the ease of access to the information. Regards. Rehman( +) 11:26, 19 December 2009 (UTC) reply

Boiler Plate for New List articles

Hello Rehman and other energy project team participants. I am thinking about a standard format for List of power stations in xxx, so that the entries in List of largest power stations and pages coming from there are consistent.

  • Order of appearance? Coal, Gas, Hydro, Nuclear, ...
  • Map with icons - Taiwan looks awesome, I wish they were all that good!
  • See Also items: Energy policy in xxx, List of power stations in <<parent region>>, Electricity sector in xxx
  • List of Power Stations template in the footer

If the page includes one of the power stations in the largest lists, then there should be a See Also: List of largest power stations in the world entry. Or should every country's page have that?

Any other suggestions? And how do we implement this as a standard for new articles of this name? -- Graham Proud ( talk) 12:00, 23 February 2014 (UTC) reply

Hi Graham. Thanks for the ping; wasn't able to keep up with most stuffs on the watchlist these days... This seems like a good idea, and doesn't seem like it will cause any issue. Only thing, doing that is a tedious task, as we then need to change/monitor a heck of a lot of lists... I can assist you with that, whenever time permits... You might reach a better audience by posting at WP:ENERGY though, I think it's only us here. Best regards, Reh man 13:44, 23 February 2014 (UTC) reply
I agree with Rehman, great idea just hard to implement. It was quite the efforts we put in on lists about four years ago and what we did wasn't that consistent. The Taiwan article is great although I am weary of the giant photo gallery. In countries with a lot of power stations such as the U.S., China, Russia and Canada, those standards can be applied to the state, province articles. I know in China the articles are named List of major power stations in XXX, such as List of major power stations in Yunnan. They are largely formatted in charts but have no maps. In the U.S., charts are common for the state lists but no map. A consensus at WP:ENERGY could help bring a good footing for the future.-- NortyNort (Holla) 01:38, 24 February 2014 (UTC) reply
Thanks NortyNort! I agree we do not need the photo gallery! Perhaps we need a threshold where we switch from state or province view to country view? Clearly the larger countries need to be split. If you could have a look at what we have been doing over at List of largest power stations in the world and help garner wider support among the Energy community that would be awesome! -- Graham Proud ( talk) 01:46, 24 February 2014 (UTC) reply
