taking responsability for adding this template to articles

This template was created by a sock of banned User:Jvolkblum. However, speedy was declined, and I estimate that this template can survive a WP:TFD templates for deletion nomination.

This looks like a good template for New Rochelle articles. I think that, like the admin declining the speedy said, this is a case of ignoring the rules in order to improve the wikipedia, so I'm going to add the template to the articles listed on it under my own responsability.

If you think that a certain article does not belong on the template, then please remove it yourself, and update the template, if posible explaining the reasons on the talk page of the article.

If you think that the template is woefully inadequate for some reason, then please say so here or nominate directly for WP:TFD.

The Arts section

Question: why were Terrytoons, Norman Rockwell, Ragtime and Frederick Remington deleted from this template? Each is certainly relevant to the city historically.

Terrytoons - was a NR based company where many famous cartoon characters were created
Ragtime - was written by a NR resident, about NR during the turn of the 20th century
Norman Rockwell - had a substantial history in NR of 25 years (career history and family/personal history)
F. Remington - lived and worked in NR from his estate 'Endion'

There is no reason to delete them from the section —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.15.226.218 ( talk) 20:57, 19 July 2008 (UTC) reply

As I stated in my edit summary when I reverted your latest edit: "revert anonymous edit by IP user who I presume to be banned user Jvolkblum; it's ridiculous to use a template to connect every article peripherally connected to New Rochelle." -- Orlady ( talk) 21:06, 19 July 2008 (UTC) reply

From what I gathered from wikipedia's contributor policy, nobody is required to join the site to make changes to information. Since that doesnt apply (apparently) I have registered an account to back up my previous contributions. I dont think changes you made to the 'footer' template for New Rochelle are justified. Your opinion is understandable however the four topics you removed each do have significant links to the city. I would assume that their initial inclusion gives some idea as to their relevance, but to refresh from before:

Terrytoons - was a NR based company where many famous cartoon characters were created
Ragtime - was written by a NR resident, about NR during the turn of the 20th century
Norman Rockwell - had a substantial history in NR of 25 years (career history and family/personal history)
F. Remington - lived and worked in NR from his estate 'Endion'

These people and art works are mentioned in the article about New Rochelle, but not every article about a topic with some sort of connection to New Rochelle deserves to be in a New Rochelle navigational template. As stated in the WP guideline on navigational templates, "all the articles in a template should substantially deal with the subject of the box." -- Orlady ( talk) 22:17, 19 July 2008 (UTC) reply
