Hmm. On different resolutions, the lines work out differently. I certainly understand why we wouldn't want a park to go on two lines, but now it sometimes works out that there are two parks not separated by a dot or a new line.

Adding Parks?
What are the criteria for adding parks to this template? In particular, the
Boston National Historical Park is a significant park as far as its part in US history, and I would like to add it to the template, but do not want to do so if there are some specific criteria for inclusion that have been defined and I just couldn't find them. Thanks! —

Sorry. These are only "National Parks". The list is complete and can only change if they add or remove a park. I would, however, love to see a similar template for "
National Historical Parks".

Okay, I understand now, I was just expecting the template to be using the broader definition of national parks, like the
List of areas in the National Park System of the United States. Now that I understand the purpose, though, and think about it a bit more (that would be a big template, after all, if it tried to list all of them!), I realize the question was kind of stupid. Would it be acceptable to copy the formatting of this template if I attempt to make a National Historical Parks template? Thanks! —

I have been thinking about creating templates for Nat'l Mon, Mem, Pky, etc. So it would be absolutely wonderful if you copied the basics from this one for Hist Parks!

I've created
Template:National_Historical_Parks_of_the_United_States - I'm open to comments, corrections, suggestions, etc. It should be complete at this point - two of the listed parks aren't on the map because they don't fit within its scope, but everything else should be there. —

That's great! Wonderful job! If I ever get some free time, I will create templates for the other unit types.

If I get bored, I may do the same. Or better yet, having done it by hand the first time, I might write a script to automate some of the work next time :) Thanks for the barnstar, I'm glad to help out! —

Pinnacles NP
Could someone with more skill than I possess add
Pinnacles National Park to the map? Pinnacles National Monument was redesignated as a national park on 10 January 2013. Acroterion(talk) 01:37, 11 January 2013 (UTC)reply
Comments on dot locations within the map should probably be placed on the map's template talk page:
Template talk:National parks of the United States map. (There is also discussion about different browsers showing the dots in different places.) -
