In my humble opinion, this is overkill for a navbox. This is what categories are for. JMO. Montanabw (talk) 19:36, 5 July 2011 (UTC) reply

Well you may well be right, IDK. I was trying to make some sense of the categories, gave up and did this instead. I learned something along the way. A major advantage is that it can be watched, so if someone slips in an ad for his saddlery (as there was in Category:Dressage), we'll see it. Assuming we are going to keep it for now, can you think of a better name for it? I can't, but it certainly needs one. Justlettersandnumbers ( talk) 21:44, 5 July 2011 (UTC) reply
I agree a weakness of categories is no ability to watchlist when things are added. But navboxes require a lot of monitoring of categories to keep them up to date, so there is work involved over a long haul. As for this, I have to admit that I can't come up with a better title at the moment, it actually is a pretty neutral and non culture-specific title, but if inspiration strikes, I'll let you know. Gulyás

Is there actually any evidence that the Hungarian Gulyás cowherd ever works or worked on horseback? The Csikos sometimes herd cows, btw. Justlettersandnumbers ( talk) 11:12, 6 September 2011 (UTC) reply

No idea, I've not done any work on those articles. I'd say what you can find where you are at is as good as what any of us can find over here on this side of the pond. Good luck! Maybe alert us as to the outcome in case it affects some other articles. Montanabw (talk) 23:30, 6 September 2011 (UTC) reply

Ranches

Per WP:BRD at Ranch, I tossed this template from that article as exceeding scope and opening discussion here if one is needed. Rancher redirects to ranch. My view is that "ranchers" generally are the owners of a cattle operation, and they may or may not be cowboys or wranglers (i.e. mounted stock herders). Similarly, most cowboys work for a rancher, they aren't ranchers themselves. A few people are both. It's a Venn diagram issue. I'm not going to make a federal case out of whether to include a navbox or not, but if the person who wanted to add it and expand this box wishes to discuss the mater, that's my thinking.
