Remove Metrostars from template

I propose that the Metrostars be removed from the historic teams section of this template. The Metrostars do still exist but are now called the New York Red Bulls. We don't list other teams that have gone through name changes as historic teams. There is no "Dallas Burn" or "Kansas City Wiz" under historic teams. To me, that list is just a list of folded or inactive teams. KitHutch 16:26, 14 April 2006 (UTC) reply

It has been one week since I proposed the removal of the Metrostars from this template. Since I see no objections, I will remove the Metrostars. KitHutch 15:48, 22 April 2006 (UTC) reply

Added category

I've added an On hiatus category and moved the Earthquakes into that category from historical teams. The team records still exist and are owned by the team's current owner Earthquakes Soccer, LLC and Oakland A's owner Lewis Wolff. They are technically in a hiatus state similar to the Cleveland Browns in the mid 1990's and won't be abandoned at the earliest until 2009 based on the current agreement. If no one objects of course. format

Rather than start an edit war I'll bring it up here. This navbox looks nothing like all other footy navboxes. The differences are that a) it's collapsible, b) it uses bullets rather a vertical slash – |, and c) it doesn't properly apply nbsp to avoid word wrap. How can you argue that it is standardized according to Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Templates#Navigational boxes (navboxes)? It clearly isn't. JohnnyPolo24 ( talk) 12:10, 26 March 2009 (UTC) reply

East and west

One thing that has always bothered me with the NBA etc templates is that the conferences have been the "wrong way". We orient ourselves with west to the left and east to the right. Just check any map! By changing this template to the "opposite" it is counter-intuitive. That the Eastern Conference is often listed "on top" of the Western Conference is not comparable. Arsenikk (talk) 12:18, 26 May 2011 (UTC) reply

I would advocate an East-West format as this seems to be the way the league displays them. I'd also argue that East being listed "on top" of West does count for something as the English language is read from left to right-top to bottom ( see Clubs|MLSsoccer.com) while there's no one "right" way to read a map. When official league websites do list the conferences side-by-side, they still even list East first ( see menu at top of page). Ultimately it's probably not a very big deal but this is the way MLS visually organizes itself. -- Blackbox77 ( talk) 21:37, 26 May 2011 (UTC) reply
So what's with this (unexplained) colour change? Not that I liked the old colours (and that colour scheme wasn't discussed either) but this colour scheme isn't any better. Just want to know. Can't we get something close to what the league uses? -- Walter Görlitz ( talk) 05:25, 11 February 2012 (UTC) reply
Oh yeah, the league doesn't use colours to signify the conferences. -- Walter Görlitz ( talk) 05:28, 11 February 2012 (UTC)-- Walter Görlitz ( talk) 05:28, 11 February 2012 (UTC) reply
