  • The seal and flag of Los Angeles County has been determined as in the public domain. No difference than using the seal of the University of California. Actually the seal of UC is the property of the Regents of University of California. I don't think the County has ever copy righted the seal or the flag that was designed by the late Supervisor Hahn many years ago. Might need to be renamed

This template might need to be renamed to disambiguate with Template:Los Angeles County, California. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 04:44, 16 June 2008 (UTC)\ reply

A couple of possibilities are " Template:Government of Los Angeles County" or a more general " Template:Los Angeles County topics", but it depends on what is added within the next month or two. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 05:24, 16 June 2008 (UTC) reply
No objections? Then I will move it. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 14:52, 25 June 2008 (UTC) reply
Do you have any other suggestion? I am open to them. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 15:18, 25 June 2008 (UTC) reply
  • No need to change since the other LA County is "Municipalities and communities of Los Angeles County, California" This only deal with the official bodies of the County of Los Angeles governmental -- the supervisors, departments and related organizations that are semi-departments. "County of Los Angeles" is fine since it is name of the official govenmental body. (See "County of Los Angeles" on the seal and the flag) While Los Angeles County is usually for the area of the County. Ucla90024 ( talk) 15:42, 25 June 2008 (UTC) reply

  • This template only deals with County of Los Angeles Government, the Board of Supervisors, the departments and any agencies or facilities that are under the control of the County government and the Board of Supervisors. There are tons of things in Los Angeles County, but have no control by the Supervisors. City of Los Angeles or any other incorporated cities have their own City Councils, Private or public colleges and universities are under the governance of their own boards. They aleady have their own templates. The mayor in Los Angeles is trying now to wrestle the control of the Los Angeles Unified School District from the Board of Education. 71.130.219.38 ( talk) 07:18, 4 July 2008 (UTC) reply
Then it should be more clearer, like my proposed rename to Template:Government of Los Angeles County. Otherwise, other users like me will not know and will put links like culture, history, geography, economy, etc. like Template:Los Angeles and Template:District of Columbia. Cheers. • County of Los Angeles is the offical name. As explained above that it is shown on the official seal and the flag of the County. And as pointed out the area of the County is commonly referred to as Los Angeles County. 71.130.219.38 ( talk) —Preceding comment was added at 07:33, 4 July 2008 (UTC) reply
Yes, but like I said, if you do not specify that this template is only for the Government, Board of Supervisors, departments, etc. people are going to put links relating to other Los Angeles County subjects. That is one of the reasons why Template:Los Angeles County, California specifically says "Municipalities and communities of" because other users started to put other stufs on those types of templates. As a compromise, I only changed the header of this template to read "County of Los Angeles Government" Zzyzx11 (Talk) 07:37, 4 July 2008 (UTC) reply

  • You are being silly, the only one with problems with it. Nobody has problems with it and nobody add "stufs" to it except you. If you thought it was a good idea, why you didn't create this template in the first place? 71.130.209.167 ( talk) 15:04, 4 July 2008 (UTC) reply
  • Fine, we will play it your way. I may be the only one now, but that does not stop someone else from adding links in the future. Maybe not this month, but in a few months or next year. I have seen it on other templates. Do not say I warned you! Your "why you didn't create this template in the first place" and "I created this template" comments are classic cases of WP:OWN. Regards. I'm here in response to a request for input. I think that it is helpful to label templates clearly to define their scope. "County of Los Angeles" could refer to places in the county, or to the administration of the county. I think that this template should be titled to show that it covers the government and administration. "Government of Los Angeles County" is a reasonable alternative. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 19:39, 4 July 2008 (UTC) reply

Colors

Gold & Green are the correct colors for the County of Los Angeles, as shown on its flag. Ucla90024 ( talk) 03:35, 26 October 2010 (UTC) reply
