Template is too general

This is not an outline of Egypt-related dishes and beverages, what's the point of linking to the main articles about tea, coffee etc.? A template for Egyptian cuisine should link to Egypt-specific articles, serving as a "map" too all the Egyptian cuisine articles. Instead of doing that this template is basically trying to summarize the entire Egyptian cuisine article which serves no point. Turnopoems ( talk) 13:01, 23 June 2018 (UTC) reply

@ Chumash11: Before I proceed to edit I would like to clarify a few points to avoid any conflict.
  • Stella is a brand, not a beer type. It does not deserve a spot on this list. If other countries were to add individual brands of beer their lists would be endless.
  • Karkadeh is not only consumed as a herbal tea in Egypt, but also a chilled juice (arguably more common than the former). Therefore it should not be categorized as a tea.
  • What is the purpose of removing extraneous entries? I find that they serve as an incentive and a guide for future articles related to the topic at hand. Similar templates do the same thing.
  • You've also removed entries that aren't extraneous, like keshk, halumi, both features of Egyptian cuisine with sources backing it up. Meanwhile you've left other extraneous entries based on what I assume is personal judgement. Why?
  • You're linking Egyptian breads to generic articles that contain no information about the Egyptian breads. Eish baladi is not a synonym for pita, it is an Egyptian bread with some similar characteristics. Sourdough is also a generic article with no information whatsoever about eish shamsi. It's better for them to be extraneous than misleading.
  • Bamia and besarah are not soups, and I have no idea how anyone could mistake them for soups. The former is a stew eaten with rice or bread and the latter is a bean paste eaten with bread and fried onions.
Thanks in advance. -- Turnopoems ( talk) 14:02, 24 June 2018 (UTC) reply
@ Turnopoems: I like the edits you made; they made the template much more specific to Egypt and the red links are useful incentives for future articles. However, I still think Stella deserves a place in the template. It's very widely known around the region as a symbol of Egypt and is the largest beer in Egypt by far (with a third of the market share). Similar templates also include beverage brands (e.g. {{ Cuisine of Lebanon}}, {{ Cuisine of Tunisia}}, {{ Cuisine of Turkey}}, {{ Cuisine of Algeria}}, and {{ Cuisine of Morocco}}). These templates don't include every single beverage brand in their respective countries, just one or two notable ones (as would be the case here). Thanks,

@ Chumash11: No point in disagreeing over such a minor point, I will re-add it. :) -- Turnopoems ( talk) 10:50, 27 June 2018 (UTC) reply
