Team Names

I've updated the linked season articles as follows.

Going by Arizona State University which cites School names of:

  • Arizona Territorial Normal School (1889–1896)
  • Arizona Normal School (1896–1899)
  • Normal School of Arizona (1899–1901)
  • Tempe Normal School (1901–1925)
  • Tempe State Teachers College (1925–1929)
  • Arizona State Teachers College (1929–1945)
  • Arizona State College (1945–1958)
  • Arizona State University (1958–present)

Nicknames including via [1] and [2]:

  • Normals (-1897)
  • Owls (1899–1924)
  • Bulldogs (1925–1942)
  • Sun Devils (1946–present)

We generally remove noise words like School, College, and University from the article titles. So School name + Nickname, which is most easily viewed in Category:Arizona State Sun Devils football seasons. UW Dawgs ( talk) 17:43, 5 September 2016 (UTC) reply

Note: This source, a detailed fact sheet prepared by the university for the 1899 team, states that the 1899 team was known by the nickname "Normals", not "Owls". Given that this article focuses specifically and in depth on the 1899 season, I'd be inclined to follow it. Other than that, what you've set forth above looks fine. 1901 team

NOTE: The ASU Media Guide states that there was "NO VARSITY" team in 1901. See here. CFDW claims there was one game against a high school. See here. I defer to ASU to know whether or not this was an official varsity football team and am therefore striking reference to the 1901 team. Cbl62 ( talk) 02:54, 10 November 2016 (UTC) reply
