The
bar-tailed godwit (Limosa lapponica) is a large wader in the family
Scolopacidae. Its migration is the longest known non-stop flight of any bird; in 2007, godwits tagged in New Zealand were tracked to the
Yellow Sea in China, with one specimen continuing on to Alaska, then returning to New Zealand in a non-stop trip.Photo:
