Overall: Article is new enough and long enough, neutral and well supported by citations. The flow of topics in the section on the subject's career and operatic compositions is a bit close to the Mozarteum source, but the phrasing has already been changed, and I'm not sure how differently that sequence of events could really be described; I'm letting it pass. The hook doesn't strike me as extremely interesting (no offense! I have trouble writing exciting hooks, so I don't mean to criticize!), and it interests me more in the theater than in the composer. I've added in a more hooky quote from one of the sources and proposed ALT1 based on it; other than the hook, this article is ready for DYK, so if someone else can briefly review my alternate hook, it'll be finished. (My hook doesn't connect to the included image, which should be left out if the next reviewer likes ALT1. Bryanrutherford0 ( talk) 19:34, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

Thank you for the suggestion. I have my concerns because you may overestimate the number of readers who known Poe and Bosch ;) - Also: note that your part of the quotation omits "could be", and that it's all the critics ideas, not something the composer wanted to achieve. Thirdly, the ALT1 has no time attached, other than an implicit "after Poe", while the image tells us it's rather recent. - Anyway, I moved ALT1 down here, or it would look to later readers as if I worded that. - I also removed the striking of the original hook, because a different reviewer might still it. -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 19:58, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
I'm not reviewing this for now since Bryanrutherford0 has already commented, but I would suggest that you propose additional hooks that don't involve Bosch. Narutolovehinata5 t c csd new 22:58, 2 December 2017 (UTC)
I don't know whom you are addressing. ALT1 is by Bryanrutherford0, for clariry. -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 22:13, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
Ah, I misread. Sorry about that. Consider this a review of his hook instead. How about:
ALT2:... that Johannes Kalitzke's fifth opera Pym is based on the novel The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket?
I kind of disagree with your opinion that Edgar Allan Poe isn't that well-known considering he's one of the biggest names in American literature, but oh well. Narutolovehinata5 t c csd new 03:19, 4 December 2017 (UTC)
That's a nice hook but gives more attention to the novel than the composer (just by its long name), and it could be any time after the novel was written. It also says nothing about him being a conductor-composer. -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 07:21, 4 December 2017 (UTC)
  • New reviewer needed, since hooks have been proposed by prior reviewers in addition to the nominator. BlueMoonset ( talk) 01:04, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
with ALT1. I share the concerns about ALT2 and ALT0 is not really interesting. I think Poe and Bosch are sufficiently known that ALT1 is catchy enough. Regards So Why 14:43, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
