Hook comment: press reports on September 19 had the song as "Applause", but the new song release info has Lambert on "Marry the Night"; striking original hook and going with ALT1

This article is new enough and long enough. Going with the original hook as it reads better. I have edited the article as the episode has now screened and have added
Therealdavo2 to the credits.

I'm sorry, but I specifically deleted the original hook because it turned out to be misleading and, frankly, gives the impression that Lambert did cover the song, when he did not. (It's sung by other actors.) If you'd prefer me to create a completely different ALT I'm happy to, but DYK is generally willing to give a certain amount of deference to the nominator, and in this case I'm hoping it extends to my striking the original hook as it was overtaken by events. Reproposing ALT1 as ALT1a, slightly reworded, in case that helps (but perfectly prepared for it to be considered inadequate):
Another suggestion.

Not fond of "instead", because there's a bit of an implication that it was done by his choice (and maybe despite her), and it doesn't read well where it is (though it would do better at the end of the hook). Have struck the earlier hooks, but some very minor wording changes to the end of ALT2 should get us there:
