Isambard Kingdom Brunel Standing Before the Launching Chains of the Great Eastern
... that the cigar was airbrushed out of a famous picture of Isambard Kingdom Brunel(pictured) when it appeared on the cover of a children's book? "Brunel enthusiasts have this week launched a spirited campaign to reinstate the famous engineer's trademark cigar after it was airbrushed from the front cover of a new children's book." from: Hansford, Mark (8 December 2005).
"Brunel cigar airbrushed from school book". New Civil Engineer. Retrieved 9 October 2020.
ALT1:... that
Isambard Kingdom Brunel was said to show "swaggering casualness" in an 1857 photograph(pictured) taken at the launch of the
Great Eastern? "Here he is photographed standing nonchalantly in front of the ship's monumental launching chains, his hands in his pockets, a cigar in his mouth and his waistcoat askew, conveying the impression of swaggering casualness about his achievements, just before the ship was launched in November 1857." from: Saumarez Smith, Charles (1997). The National Portrait Gallery. London: National Portrait Gallery. p. 128.
Overall: Nice article! I personally like ALT2 best, but all hooks meet reqs. Picture should be used because this is a hook about a photograph. (
