On 31 January 2023, it was proposed that this article be moved from Yivliminare Mosque to Yivli Minaret Mosque. The result of the discussion was moved.

Yivli minare and mosque mistake

Yivli Minare refers only to the thick minaret. The mosque itself is called Alaaddin Camii or Ulu Camii (Grand Mosque). There is confusion because the mosque is famous for its minaret than its core building.-- Bozaltan ( talk) 07:13, 30 July 2011 (UTC) reply

You're right about the minaret and the name Ulu Camii, but Alaeddin Camii is a totally different mosque. Yivliminare Mosque → Yivli Minaret Mosque – Plain and Simply, the current title is not the common or even the most useful formulation of this mosque's name in English, while the proposed title is what Turkiye itself has submitted as the name of the mosque in its UNESCO submission for the building [1]. Unless we are trying to out-Turk the Turks here on English Wikipedia, I suggest we follow this, as well as the scholarly sources that split the minare off from the yivli and read it as 'minaret', which is obviously also more usefully descriptive, natural and recognizable in English - readers will instantly know that it is a mosque with a special minaret.
