I cleaned up this article somewhat while waiting for Windows updates to install. However, it still reflects my pet peeve, failure to mention degree of slaveholding. I just don't have time to look up his precise slaveholdings. Also, the West Virginia magazine article cited in the John J. Jackson Jr. article discusses the entire family's real estate speculation and commercial enterprises. Whereas General John J. Jackson and his son where Whigs, William L. Jackson was a Democrat.
