As a member of the O.T.O I must insist on removing Occult activities paragraph in W. Breeze's article - an indentity of Frater Superior is known only to IX° of the Ordo Templi Orientis.

Sorry, that information was obtained from the cited references to this article. Removing information from this article is considered vandalism. Your account may be blocked if you repeatedly remove it. Please take your cult-inspired activities elsewhere. — 999 21:52, 22 May 2006 (UTC) reply

a) Shouldn't "Betamax" also be listed as one of his nicknames? b) Is there any reason to omit the video company he ran? c) Under "Occult Activities" shouldn't his initiation by Jack Hogg also be mentioned? That is also a matter of public record.

Have at it. If you have sources, simply cite them as you go along. - 999 23:37, 29 May 2006 (UTC) reply

Someone recently overhauled this article [poorly], I see at least two spelling mistakes in the first "life" section, some bad math "1979 - 1984" is fifteen years? Also what is with the unrelated painting? Should either be a picture of him (although he is a private person) or just remove the unrelated artwork.

Edit: fixed what I could, I'll leave the rest to someone more invested. There is some more awkward language, information without citations, and spurious images. I'll leave it to OTO.

NPOV

For Example: "Breeze is well-known and not very well-liked in the occult community, under his pseudonym Hymenaeus Beta,"

At the very least, we need some kind of reference or citation indicating that he's "not very well liked."

Also: "he claims supreme authority over O.T.O. In addition, he also maintains that the O.H.O. is ex officio the Patriarch of Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica, the liturgical arm of O.T.O. He has also attempted to assert authority over the Argenteum Astrum, in vain."

... is rather weasley. 'tried in vain' -- 'claims supreme authority' -- absent any reference or citation of conflict (which, yes, i understand is hard to come by when dealing with secret societies) it comes across as ratehr one-sided. Zero sharp 05:14, 7 January 2007 (UTC) reply

Friend's of Breeze

Shouldn't we link the Caliph, er I mean, Breeze with other prominant Thelemites that he hung out with, like Ebony Anpu? Captain Barrett 20:43, 11 February 2007 (UTC) reply

Some reputable third party written about this in a published biography of either? No? Then the answer is no. 217.10.142.170 07:04, 12 February 2007 (UTC) reply

Questions & Errata

.

Can we have some citations and verification on Breeze's corruption of the OTO rituals? From the OTO investigator/ archivist P R Koenig, the Caliphate OTO 9th degree is essentially of Breeze placing his hands on the aspirants shoulders, and lo and behold they are a "9th degree" in the Caliphate OTO.

Also we need some citation for Breeze getting death threats and so scared that he had to move house, due to him thinking that he was being stalked. Info please?

Sure - if you can cite this from reputable sources. As it is, it is tawdry occult hearsay. In any case, Crowley handed out O.T.O. degrees like tictacs, with as little ceremony. As Mathers did with G.D. degrees. It happens. If it can't be cited, however, it does not belong in this article. 70.177.94.136 ( talk) 06:42, 10 February 2010 (UTC) reply

Koenig

Is Koenig a reliable source? — Ashley Y 07:23, 11 December 2008 (UTC) reply

No. -- Rodneyorpheus ( talk) 22:24, 24 May 2009 (UTC) reply

I've removed him. BTW, is there a reliable source that says Breeze is leader of the OTO? — Ashley Y 04:07, 29 May 2009 (UTC) reply
Glad you removed Koenig. I suppose the most reliable source about OTO administration would be the corporation's legal filings. -- Rodneyorpheus ( talk) 09:36, 29 May 2009 (UTC) reply
What about Allen Greenfield? Is he a reliable source? — Ashley Y 08:01, 31 May 2009 (UTC) reply
He's certainly more reliable than Koenig, in my opinion. Allen used to be part of O.T.O. and knows the subject personally. However his POV is certainly not neutral, so that has to be taken into consideration. Koenig does have a good collection of primary source material, so he can be a useful source, however he frequently republishes partial quotes out of context and comes ot highly questionable conclusions from it, so his stuff has to be taken with a pinch of salt (and a lot of cross-referencing). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rodneyorpheus ( talkcontribs) 13:27, 31 May 2009 (UTC) reply

Peter's reliability is as good, if not better, than that of anyone involved in the O.T.O. when it comes to questions about the history of the org. and its leaders. No one involved in the 'Crowley world' can be said to be 'impartial' towards it. Peter takes great pains to get his stories right. I know because I'm a 'subject' in a few of them. Vandalism by users from bookofthelaw.com

This article (like several other Thelema articles) is being repeatedly vandalised by users who for some unknown reason keep wanting to redirect people to bookofthelaw.com. In this case they are using a redirect from http://www.hymenaeusbeta.com, which purports to be something to do with William Breeze/Hymenaeus Beta, which it clearly does not. Would those users please give their reasons for doing so and stop edit warring please, so we can keep this article reasonably encyclopedic?-- Rodneyorpheus ( talk) 11:57, 3 December 2010 (UTC) reply

Freemason?

I an removing the freemason category because I can't find any evidence to say this man is actually a freemason. Generally, the Freemasons and the OTO pretend to be different things. Although it is not impossible, we need a source. Claíomh Solais ( talk) 19:15, 14 October 2017 (UTC) reply

should be "IX" degree

Hi!

93 and all.

In the para about "OTO Succession" the voting members were inadvertently I assume referred to as "XI" (eleventh) degree. I hope no-one, including any ancient dyslexic romans, minds that I changed it to "IX" (ninth) degree, as I'm sure was intended.

Why no inclusion of Breeze's court case in London, against Kenneth Grant?

One of Breeze's later actions was to take the late Kenneth Grant to court in London over the use of the name Ordo Templi Orientis. There should be mention of this on the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.205.241.176 ( talk) 11:07, 23 November 2020 (UTC) reply
