By January 2014, although I do not know the exact date, DirecTV, a satellite television network, replaced The Weather Channel with Weather Nation TV.
Perhaps this was the result of a carriage dispute. My source is twofold:

1. I have DirecTV and noticed the change; and
2. The Weather Channel online website was streaming a banner in early January 2014 asking people to call DirecTV and request that their channel be returned to the DirecTV channel lineup.

Weather Nation TV has been replace by GRIT TV broadcasted by WBIN on 50-3, the "Wx-Nation" Heading is still displayed on the EPG. while the < http://www.grittv.com/find-us/> map lists WBIN.
