The name is Vittorio De Sica, so there should instead be a redirect from Vittorio de Sica to Vittorio De Sica, and not vice-versa. I don't see the 'move' tab.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Satanetto ( talkcontribs)

Google found that in Italian sites, the D was almost universally capitalized, so I've moved it. As for the other international Wikipedias, they'll have to handle their own. We have to link to however they have it. Fan-1967 15:36, 21 November 2006 (UTC) reply

Amend A Credit

Vittorio De Sica acted in "It Started In Naples", released in 1960, also starring Clark Gable & Sophia Loren. This U.S. film is listed in Italian. Disciples0 ( talk) 08:04, 5 June 2008 (UTC) reply

Birth year, 1901 or 1902?

I edited the article to acknowledge the uncertainty of his birth year. We had different dates in the lead para and the infobox. Better to be consistently wrong than giving 2 versions and confusing our readers. Better still to say that we don’t actually know for certain when he was born. Many sources say he was born 1901; many others say 1902. Yet others give both dates without appearing to be aware of their inconsistency. We need a definite birth year. Is there an authoritative source? -- JackofOz ( talk) 08:13, 1 July 2008 (UTC) reply

I think it must 1902. The sources seem a bit more reputable - IMDB, Variety, SonyPictures.com. I have also checked Christopher Lyon's International Dictionary of Films and Filmmakers, it says 1902 as well. -- Rbausor ( talk) 07:37, 17 October 2008 (UTC) reply
Yet the Italian, French, German, Spanish and Russian articles all say 1901, without qualification. I wonder how they can be so sure, when we're not. -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 04:54, 27 June 2010 (UTC) reply

Birth year again

Nobody seems to have given yet a source for 1901 or for 1902, which is obviously more reliable, as sources, giving the other year. The Brockhaus Enzyklopädie, giving 1902, as the Britannica, giving 1901, are both more reliable, I think, as IMDb or wikipedias for other languages. IMHO we should avoid to give a birth year for sure, if there is good reason to doubt on. -- Griot-de ( talk) 00:57, 2 February 2013 (UTC) reply

Second Marriage

De Sica's second marriage was to Maria Mercader, the half sister of Trotsky's assassin, Ramon Mercader. She was not Ramon Mercader's full sister, as indicated in the article. The Wikipedia articles on Ms Mercader and on Ramon Mercader both specify "half sister." Abenr ( talk) 16:39, 21 May 2018 (UTC) reply
