Encyclopedia article or public relations copy?

I see that most of this article was added by one IP address in September 2008. It is rife with peacock language and other indications that it is PR copy from the museum itself. If this work has been done by a museum staffer, please be aware that editing of WP articles on organizations by organization employees is against WP policy, since it violates the neutrality looked for in an encyclopedia. I'm about to remove some of the more glaring peacock terms. If you are a museum staffer, please respect the WP process and don't revert. Jbening ( talk) 15:30, 6 January 2009 (UTC) reply

Editing for tone

There seems to be too much PR and peacock language. Also there is an excessive amount on donations and patrons; they no doubt get plenty of credit in museum publications and exhibits. Parkwells ( talk) 17:25, 18 February 2021 (UTC) reply

Lots of room for improvement here! There should be coverage of the museum's collection, programming, and recent acquisitions immediately after and in the ten years since the 2010 expansion. Article needs more prose on current collection and what makes this a unique museum from reliable sources, not from the primary source of their website. Separate article for theater?

The VirginiaTheater in its various manifestations and 50-year operations seems important enough to have a separate article devoted to it, with a smaller summary here. Its achievements were recognized in the theatre world, and not really part of the art museum. Will look at that. Parkwells ( talk) 17:09, 21 February 2021 (UTC) reply

Completely agree that the lengthy discussion of the theater is out of place in this article. It seems there is minimal integration between the art museum's programming and the theater (although this may be due in part to COVID). They appear to be otherwise separate entities, as a few searches revealed very little evidence of a current relationship between the two. The theater article would be better served on its own page, with a concise mention here on the VMFA page. Cedar777 ( talk) 21:04, 21 February 2021 (UTC) reply
Thanks, I'll work on that. Fowler was director during a growth in numerous regional theatres, part of nationwide interest. Parkwells ( talk) 00:32, 22 February 2021 (UTC) reply
