Agriculture

User:Magnolia677, User:Nikkimaria you two reverted my edits to the agriculture section, but the summaries you gave weren't clear as to what you found problematic with them. Could either or both of you explain what exactly are the issues you have with my changes to the section? Clepushka ( talk) 06:31, 10 February 2024 (UTC) reply

Hi Clepushka, per MOS:TENSE articles should generally be written in present tense - although this isn't done perfectly at the moment, your changes were moving in the wrong direction in that respect. I also found some of your other changes increased wordiness without improving clarity. For example, in "Virginia has the seventh-highest number of wineries in the nation, with 356 producing 1.1 million cases a year", 356 is understood as referencing the number of wineries, without adding the somewhat ambiguous "locations" (which could mean wineries but could also mean communities or regions). Hi User:Nikkimaria, are there any other issues that you have? I will do a rewrite that fully takes onboard your improvement suggestions, but not before I have a complete picture of where all our areas of disagreement lie. Clepushka ( talk) 07:03, 10 February 2024 (UTC) reply
"Took up 30% of the land in Virginia" should be "occupied 30% of the land in Virginia"; "but due to" could be a semicolon; "Though it has no longer been the primary crop" is awkward; another "however" (see MOS:EDITORIAL). -- Magnolia677 ( talk) 12:07, 10 February 2024 (UTC) reply
There are similar wordiness issues around the 2019 rains at wineries. Nikkimaria ( talk) 15:08, 10 February 2024 (UTC) reply
Good advice. I will put these suggestions into the article. Clepushka ( talk) 20:38, 10 February 2024 (UTC) reply

Listed Anthem is Incorrect

The listed anthem's linked source lists three songs, not one (and it doesn't call them 'anthems,' at that.) LunarYelling ( talk) 23:30, 14 February 2024 (UTC) reply

Semi-protected edit request on 30 March 2024

Change "1776" to "April 1775" in Statehood, second paragraph, first sentence, as the action in Lexington and Concord is considered the beginning in these colonies of armed revolution against the crown, and as Washington was commissioned in June 1775. Jvebel ( talk) 02:43, 30 March 2024 (UTC) reply

Done I left out the month, don't think it's critical here, but ping me if you think otherwise. Liu1126 ( talk) 13:13, 30 March 2024 (UTC) reply
