Venus Williams' picture is not her

Can someone change her picture on her page? The picture is of her sister Serena. 47.200.103.202 ( talk) 00:37, 28 November 2021 (UTC) reply

@ Elonka: this article on the same tournament the photo was taken at confirms it's Venus. Sod25k ( talk) 09:54, 19 December 2021 (UTC) reply

Sources still needed

There has been a "need citations" template on this article since August 2012. I took a look towards removing the template, but in my opinion the problems still exist. There is a *lot* of information in this article which is unsourced. For best practice, every paragraph should include at least one source. Per Wikipedia policy, any information that is not sourced can be removed by any editor at any time, especially in a Biography of a Living Person. -- El on ka 02:15, 24 December 2021 (UTC) reply

Introduction: POV

This above claims that Williams is "widely regarded" as one of the best players ever, but the sources quoted do not support that assertion. She *may be in the conversation, but there is no evidence cited that she is "widely regarded" as such. Seven Grand Slams is quite an achievement and places her in the top 20 in that category, but those seven were achieved at two events only. I will add a neutrality citation until this point is discussed by others. Regards Billsmith60 ( talk) 12:21, 23 June 2022 (UTC) reply

Certainly she is an all-time great in Doubles Billsmith60 ( talk) 12:24, 23 June 2022 (UTC) reply

She is often referred to as being "widely regarded" as an all time great e.g.

Also, the fact that so many tennis experts/sites rank her in the top 10 female tennis players of all time, then i think the "widely regarded" claim is justified. There are 3 links already given in the introduction placing her inside the top 10 of all time. On top of this, the Tennis Channel rank her as the 8th best player of all time (see her legacy section). Numerous tennis/sports sites consistently rank her inside the top of all time 10 e.g.

Winning streak

"Her 35-match winning streak from the 2000 Wimbledon Championships to the 2000 Generali Ladies Linz final is the longest since 2000" is no longer correct. Swiatec has broken it with 36 (so far). 81.178.143.59 ( talk) 19:27, 28 June 2022 (UTC) reply

Out of date introduction

Below is the current text:

"She is also one of only two active players to have reached the singles finals of all four majors, along with Serena"

Serena is no longer active. Some other active players may have reached the singles finals of all four majors but am not 100%. ( Fran Bosh ( talk) 18:21, 2 February 2023 (UTC)) reply
