Larned

William Larned won 8 US Open, not 7, as Sears. ( US Open champions (Men's Singles)) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.150.45.86 ( talkcontribs) 09:00, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Draw

I think that there needs to be some information about how the draw is determined. I know that the main draw consists of 64 players; however, there is a qualifying tournament too, from which 16 players are added to the main draw. More details on this would be helpful. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Chrisphillips71 ( talkcontribs) 09:20, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

US Open Events

This comment also follows an earlier request for adding history regarding the wheelchair, junior etc. event information. As a site that covers the US Open (and not just, for example, a gender or event qualification) it is appropriate to recognise all the events that are played at the Open, specifically as a minimum the champions of each event should be listed in the table on the right. The introduction tries to qualify this as referring to the 'primary' events of the Open but the official web site of the US Open does not use this term and, instead, features the champions of each event prominently with an equal approach. This includes the grand slam achievements for two competitors in the Wheelchair category. While this site does recognise these events are held it is appropriate also to note when each event was first held as a minimum level of historical information provision. Reasons for naming of the grounds and stadiums

The article tells us that Arthur Ashe was a US Open champion and Billie Jean King was a champion and "pioneer" of women's tennis. The two statements are insufficient, in the case of Ashe, and imprecise, in the case of King. Either we should state the reasons, which are multi-faceted and complex, in equal detail, or just leave it to the reader to click on the links to the main articles about Ashe and King, respectively. I'd vote for the latter. 2603:8000:8F40:3B08:A00D:55CB:D849:1578 ( talk) 15:40, 24 April 2023 (UTC) reply

I disagree. They are very short montages as to the personalities, and the links are there to click if readers want more. I did remove the bit about Ashe winning events that were not the US Open. Fyunck(click) ( talk) 20:47, 24 April 2023 (UTC) reply
