I understand why its frustrating when a school asks to be called one thing but the media doesn't automatically comply --particularly in broadcasts where an editor can catch it. The problem is more with teams that have always been known by the acronyms (like UCLA/UNLV that were cited) vs. those that might make a point in more recent times: Washington State tried to have the press stop calling them "Wazzu", but there was too much resistance from all sides (including fans) so they dropped it. Currently, USC/Southern California is hell bent on stopping people from using "Southern Cal", despite its common (and encouraged use) throughout its history into the '90s. -- Bobak 18:35, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
