Should it not be mentioned that it is primarily an artist colony? Khirad talk 04:35, 8 December 2005 (UTC) reply

It was once. Someone very zealously deleted a lot of cultural material about Tubac in this article, probably because they thought it was "commercializing". Such is the price of letting nuts edit things.

Secondly, is it "true" that the name is from co:wak? A far more likely origin is cu' wa:'(k), a local O'odham dialect ('standard' O'odham dictionaries would say cuk wa:k) phrase meaning "dark pool", which is precisely the nature of the Santa Cruz River in that spot; as opposed to simply wa:k ("pool") (San Xavier del Bac) which is downstream about 40 km. Note that just upriver from Tubac is Tumacacori (cu' makakol) and downstream is Tucson (cuk ṣon).— Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.60.159.10 ( talkcontribs) 18:41, 22 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Do you have any source for this, esp. for the idea that Tumacacori is from "cuk makakol"? All sources, including O'odham people I asked, seem to agree on "Cemagi Gakolig" as the origin of Tumamacori.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.172.68.237 ( talkcontribs) 23:05, 17 May 2019 (UTC) reply
