If we are going to quote critics we have to give some idea of what they are criticising it for, not just quote their insults. DJ Clayworth 21:25, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)
I'm thinking that the segment addressing TBN's controversies is getting long compared to the rest of the article. Perhaps we should separate it into a new page? --Scoutstr295. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 164.106.37.3 ( talk) 22:58, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
Why must people keep adding pointless hyperlinks to the bottom of this page which bash Christianity in various ways? I don't even see why TBN is a good target for this, it looks like it's revert war time, and that's not right! Homestarmy 13:36, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Also, I'm thinking the phrases 'Charlatan Broadcasting Network' and 'Having Cunnilingus with your wallet' (in the top-right info box) are certainly not unbiased descriptions of TBN... -- Profskett ( talk) 15:08, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
The link to the story on Crouch in no way says that TBN admitted they paid "hush" money. The only money the story shows paid was $425, 000 in an out of court settlement in regards to Ford's claims of being unjustly fired. Ford claimed he had a manuscript that contained a description of the supposed sexual encounter and the Arbitrator ruled that he had no right to make this claim after the settlement was paid in regards to the other issue of him being fired. Ford then demanded $10 million as a bribe! The claims that TBN made a press release in 2004 admitting paying hush money is completely fallacious. The linked story says no such thing.
You might have a point there, let me see if I can try and edit it so there isn't so much an accusation of hush money and more of a report on that source, give me a minute or so.... Homestarmy 21:44, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
How does what I wrote look? Homestarmy 21:52, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, that totally sounds fair from what the stories actually state. It definitely didn't sound very fair before- especially since the story noted the money was only paid on the claims of being unjustly fired not hush money. The TBN press release, from what I found of it via a google search definitely didn't imply hush money, so. Much better, and it totally sounds fair from the facts we actually know. 13:30, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
This page must include the positive and negative areas of TBN. The $425,000 paid in 1998 was a reality. Right or wrong, good or bad; it happened. Critical links that express negative feelings are part of wikipedia just as positive links are.. it's what makes wikipedia informative.
The elephant in the living room is the fact that a lot of believers are getting value from this network. I see no information about how many tens of millions have benefited deeply and profoundly by the hopeful and encouraging messages that are practically absent from the secular media. 74.244.247.243 ( talk) 14:51, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
That sounds like crap'. Larger potential audience, perhaps. From what I understand Nielsen doesn't follow them since they are paid programs rather than supported by advertising, but to me that sounds like an unsourced lie by some "Christian" who somehow thinks that the "Good Book" says somewhere that the end justifes the means — or that it ought to!
They do have a very large audience and in many countries. Many people around the world know who they are and watch their network. A lot of people like them. I am one of them. Leave them alone and stick to the facts. It's supposed to be an encyclopedia, not your opinion. Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.215.57.165 ( talk) 02:29, 20 March 2007 (UTC).
One thing that I noticed about this article is that it doesn't say whether TBN runs commercials to make revenue, or where its revenue comes from if not. If someone in the know could add that to the article, that would be great. JYolkowski // talk 00:55, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
USA Today ran an article on July 29, 2007 stating that TBN had acquired the "Holy Land Experience" theme park in Orlando, FL. http://www.usatoday.com/news/religion/2007-07-29-holy-land-experience_N.htm
July 21 2013 Marriage and Homosexuals
It is not the case of earliest occurrences of homosexuality was during Ancient Greece, I believe. It was a time when human sexuality was respected and openly accepted, particularly through the "blessings" of the Greek gods and goddesses. Pederasty (or the social significance of the partnering of a young boy and an old man) was prevalent as well, and was probably one of the most significant traits of Ancient Greece. It was common for a man to have a male lover and a woman for procreation. Homosexuality is most prominent in Greek architecture, such as the statues of nude individuals, particularly of men (as the male form was seen as magnificent).
Homosexuality was not restricted only to the western section of the world however; as it was also dominant in Ancient Japan and China, where male relations were given spiritual value and given the utmost respect. Homo-erotic art and poetry had much value in ancient times.
In the ancient world homosexuality was abundant, but as we all know, the implication of organized religion (particularly the Big Three) shattered such ancient traditions and forced the ideal of homosexuality (and in turn, love for the same sex) to deteriorate through the ages until it slowly started resurfacing in the 21st century. The Homosexuals merely want the same rights as straight people and to receive benefits with in their relationship not to change marriage but to get the same treatment by the government by getting healthcare and other things like that. The Church need to stop preaching hates and sees we are all made in Gods image and we must love each other. In Jesus Day their was not a word for homosexual it was not until the twentieth century that homosexuals were hated stop teaching hate — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.92.118.14 ( talk) 14:29, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
I wanted your opinion concerning the following:
While they are probably the most popular personalities on the network as hosts of the programs Praise The Lord and Behind The Scenes, Paul and Jan Crouch have become increasingly absent from TBN broadcasts, due to health problems and old age.
Could it be argued that another reason (at least in Paul's case) being that sexual harrasment lawsuit filed by a male ex-employee a few years back; because I think that was about the time they "disappeared" for the most part. WAVY 10 Fan ( talk) 16:12, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
Is there some reason we're using a chart from 1995 near the end of this article? WAVY 10 Fan ( talk) 19:11, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
I've heard that TBN is famous among what you might call "industry insiders" for the success of its fundraising work. In particular, most public television/public radio stations need about 20 days of on-air fundraising each year to stay afloat (and sometimes far more than that), and I'm told that TBN does well with a single week.
I don't have a good source for this, though, because this was just in a chat with someone who seemed to know what she was talking about. If a good source can be found, then a comparison might be useful. WhatamIdoing ( talk) 03:35, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Recent edits have removed virtually all less-than-flattering info from this article, essentially turning it into a fluff piece for Paul and Jan (and their offspring). Especially troubling is the removal of all criticisms about their finances. 69.181.249.92 ( talk) 19:59, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

I see that, but this information that Codeslingr took out was really negative and mostly stuff that was worded in a wrongful negative way, and if you fallow the changes, you will see where new information elaborates on some of the negative that was taken out. Codeslingr's edits were in the write to me. Is that all. Did you see the section below this where another user explained the finances? Please cut the tag so I can move on to another wiki page. Recent additions to information on TBN's financial filings and reports from Charity Navigators have been added to update the facts on TBN's financial statements. Charity Navigators is a nuetral watchdog organization that analyzes nonprofits from all sectors, and is widely respected as 'neutral' and thorough. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ellen Brichetto ( talk • contribs) 20:32, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Updated of financial information from Charity Navigator. Removed paragraphs from this article about Charity Navigator: they rightly belong to the article on that organization. The comparisons of the TBN directors' salaries to salaries in other cable network industries may serve some purpose, but leaves it necessary to also compare these salaries to other institutions, e.g. to other charities, to other religious organizations, etc. and so why this information was also removed. doyleb23 ( talk) 04:13, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
Changes in the last several weeks have made this article a complete mess. I'm aware that many of the changes were sourced. All the same, the changes have made the article so unwieldy as to make it far less useful than it was back in April or May. Certainly there's a bit of good information in the additions, but the organization and subsection layout of the article is atrocious as it stands. Rollback would be better than this version, in my opinion, unless someone is willing to slog through the voluminous additions with scissors and tape. I'm not. In recent years, TBN has started another controversial drive for money by encouraging its viewers to place in their wills that TBN as their sole beneficiary; there by granting them the rights to all possessions, property, and money held by the deceased. A number of incidents have arisen from this, with many comparing it to actions taken by the former PTL head Jim Bakker. It may be worth noting on the page this recent practice, with the possible association with the PTL practice, as well as potential ramifications of it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.212.142.61 ( talk) 15:52, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

The last update to the Regularly scheduled shows was in 2010. They have added several shows to the line-up and new personalities. As an example, James MacDonald from Walk In The Word is a regular show on the schedule airing every day. Is there any way to get these new shows updated? In the section "Lawsuits", Carra Crouch's suit against TBN and Paul and Jan Crouch has been decided by a jury (links at end). There will be appeals, I am sure.
Due to my having a (very distant) connection with a member of the Crouch family, I do not feel I should be making any edits to the article myself, not should I be making any judgement calls about what should be included or not. I just wish to present a couple of newspaper sources about the outcome of the trial.
If my notice here is inappropriate, please let me know.

In the Controversies section, the sentence about Sen. Grassley's investigation of several TBN televangelists, which is currently in a paragraph at the end of the Theology subsection, is not related to theology and should instead be moved to the Wealth and transparency subsection. The sentence could also be modified to note the year of the investigation, as well as the fact that another TBN televangelist, Kenneth Copeland (listed in the Theology section of the article), was named in it, too. I do not have enough edits under my belt to be allowed to do this myself on this semi-protected article. -- Captain wafer ( talk) 18:43, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
