As a resident of Trempealeau County and a Historian, I find the statement concerning native americans burning down trees to make room for berries and "doing little" to cultivate the land before there "removal" very inflammatory in nature. The citation is vague and appears to be taken from a outdated text's introduction. Even if this is a factual statement, it should be altered in such a way that the racial overtones are removed.

According to the article, the name of the Trempealeau River is taken from a French phrase, "La Montagne qui trempe à l’eau", which is supposed to mean "Mountain with its foot in the water". Actually, trempé à l'eau means "quenched with water", while "foot in the water" would be la pied dans l'eau". Did someone make a joke when they created this page 8-9 years ago? --- Couillaud 03:14, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
