When was opening day, really?

I saw a mention in the article that the first stores opened on June 21, 1979, while the official online corporate history asserts it was the next day. (Granted, the source for the June 21 date was published on a June 21st, which may have caused a Freudian slip.) Infobox Addition

Hi, I have disclosed my conflict of interest per Wikipedia:COI on my User page and on this page above. I would like to request the following edits which will enhance the usefulness of the page to Wikipedia readers, adding information and clarifying details:

- In the infobox, Ken Langone should be added as a Founder of Home Depot. This fact has been substantiated in numerous media outlets [1] [2] [3] and on Home Depot's own website. [4] [5]

Thank you for your help in making those edits. Based on the references cited above, could we also add Ken Langone to the first sentence in the first paragraph under "History" so that it reads: "The Home Depot was co-founded by Bernard Marcus, Arthur Blank, Ron Brill, Pat Farrah, and Ken Langone in 1978." Done. Also restored the previous COI edit, which another user had reverted. By adding the WP:RS to the reference in the article body, perhaps the infobox change will stick this time. W.stanovsky ( talk) 00:03, 30 June 2022 (UTC) reply

Merger proposal

I propose that Blinds.com be merged into The Home Depot as Blinds.com is not notable, has very few reliable third party sources, and was acquired by The Home Depot. I believe the Blinds.com article should be trimmed and then added to a separate section in The Home Depot. Toast (talk) 15:27, 21 October 2022 (UTC) reply

The Home DepotHome Depot – Looking at the sources in the article, "Home Depot" seems to, by far, be the WP:COMMONNAME in independent sources. It's also used in some primary sources, such as [1], and is a more global title, as Home Depot Canada does not use "The" in their branding. The article was moved to Home Depot in this 2006 discussion and moved back in this 2008 discussion where half the support votes were essentially "it's the official name". In light of Wikipedia:Naming conventions (companies) § Leading The being updated to say a leading definite (The) or indefinite (A, An) article is normally not included in the article title, it seems like we should revisit this topic, especially since both discussions were before WP:OFFICALNAME was even promoted to "essay" status and 8 of the 17 examples of "The" company articles given in the second discussion have since been moved to remove the "The". -- Ahecht ( TALK
