I thought it was odd to read about some "little persia" designation when every fellow LA Persian that I know calls it Tehrangeles. With the NY Times article this morning I have taken the effort to further beef-up the article knowing that I finally have something tangible to back up what I already knew was correct (however, in light of all the challenges going on over any article refering to any Persian people or sub-set, I wanted to have some ground to stand on). -- Bobak 15:41, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

I was happy to see the 20% number from NPR. I once did a project at Beverly Hills HS and I was stunned at the percentage of students that were Persian. It seemed higher than 20%, of course many of the non-Persians in BH may simply send kids to private schools or be empty nesters. Too bad BHHS doesn't list their ethnic breakdown (which would be complicated because many Persians, like myself, check "white" when given the choice of no "other" or "Persian"). -- Bobak 23:52, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
The top photograph on this page seems irrelevant and weirdly framed for an article on an ethnic enclave. If anyone has a picture of some Persian shops or something in the area it would probably be more apt Arspickles17 09:07, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Arspickles17
As Babak has correctly stated, "Persian" refers to the dominant ethnic group of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Also, "Tehrangeles" refers to the large concentration of ethnic Persians in Los Angeles, a throwback to Tehran, the current cultural center of the ethnic Persian population of the Middle East. However, even if Tehran is a city composed mostly of Persians, it is still a part of the political (and not ethnic) entity of Iran. Accordingly, when we discuss Tehran, we discuss it as a political (and not ethnic) entity, and thus we refer to the country it resides in as Iran(not "Persia") since we are speaking politically.
Similarly, we do not refer to Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan as "Mazar-i-Sharif, Hazara-stan" or Kandahar, Afghanistan as "Kandahar, Pushtun-land". This is mixing ethnicity and political nomenclature, and is incorrect.

Persian was never an ethnic/racial categorization. I suggest reading this editorial.

removed from article, useless trivia section:
The large Persian population in Los Angeles, particularly in and around Beverly Hills, has found its way into several mediums:
The main wiki article states there are about 700k-800k Iranian "nationals" residing in Los Angeles....which I find hard to believe considering the US census has the Iranian population (in the whole of America) at 450k. And the Wiki article 'Iranian American' has the US Iranian population lower than the total Iranian population residing in Los Angeles lol.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.71.152.118 ( talk) 23:12, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
I'm an Iranian, and I live in LA and study at UCLA. Honestly people, who the hell in LA calls Westwood "Tehrangeles"?! NOBODY, not even Iranians. ask around and see for yourself. ask a cab driver in LA to take you to "Tehrangeles" or "Little Persia" and tell us his reaction ! that's just bullcrap !! it's a shame such a baseless article exists on Wikipedia. 172.249.229.190 ( talk) 04:21, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

Many Iranian stores and businesses are in Westwood. Can the stores and businesses be listed in the article? -- 207.233.110.67 ( talk) 19:21, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
