A section of the article has the correct name for Tampa which would be Ten-pa or a "river in the sky" which describes lightning. Accurate using the Ojibway language. Book --America rising sun.

Orphaned references in Tampa, Florida

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Tampa, Florida's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "USCensusEst2020":

  • From Buffalo, New York: "QuickFacts: Buffalo city, New York". Retrieved 2021-08-17.
  • From Baton Rouge metropolitan area: "County Population Totals and Components of Change: 2010-2020". United States Census Bureau. Retrieved July 30, 2021.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 05:13, 5 October 2021 (UTC)

Requested move 1 November 2021

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: not moved. Early WP:SNOW close. As noted below, this proposal goes against WP:USPLACE and has no chance of succeeding at this time. ( closed by non-admin page mover) Lennart97 ( talk) 12:38, 6 November 2021 (UTC)

Tampa, Florida Tampa – Tampa is a major city that cannot be confused with any other city. The convention for major US cities has been to not include the name of the state they are in. San Diego, for instance, is the name of a major US city, but is also the name of various minor cities around the world, but the Wikipedia article of the major US city is simply "San Diego". AndyrooP ( talk) 03:20, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

  • Oppose. The actual Wikipedia guideline that has been used for years is listed on WP:USPLACE, with further explanation on Wikipedia:Perennial proposals#Remove state from US placenames. Reliable sources in the US commonly append the state to placenames. The definition of "major city" in the US, and the naming conventions of US cities in general, have been heavily debated and has been subjective. So the consensus was to use the so-called AP Stylebook exception rule to use a reliable source to define what a "major city" is: 29 significant US cities are specifically exempted from the convention per the AP Stylebook. San Diego is one of those 29 cities, but Tampa is not. Zzyzx11 ( talk) 04:13, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
  • Oppose move and snowclose per USPLACE. There's no chance this succeeds at the current time. O.N.R.  (talk) 05:39, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
  • Oppose Someone must seek a new consensus regarding USPLACE, where i believe some of 29 US cities will be stripped/reworked based of total population. If it does, San Diego would be renamed to San Diego, California as the population is too small. Elsewhere, it should be snowclose. 36.77.97.225 ( talk) 07:27, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
  • As I've said before I'm not sure the state is needed but WP:USPLACE says its common usage. Crouch, Swale ( talk) 09:34, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
  • Oppose and snowclose In ictu oculi ( talk) 17:12, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
  • Oppose and SNOW close per WP:USPLACE, WP:PERENNIAL, etc. ╠╣uw [ talk 18:34, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
