So, does everyone agree with my revisions? Any input or suggestions are welcome- I'm new to this game.
Need more help on 'list of neighborhoods'- Spartanburg doesn't have too many distinct neighborhoods, than I can think of, at least.
I beg to differ with the idea that the economy of Spartanburg County, much less the city, revolves around BMW. It may be a large contributor, but by no means is it the major source of economic activity.--

Are there any palms/palmettos that grow in Spartanburg outside year-round without special protection? My wife and I are considering moving there, and as silly as it seems, we really like palms and this is a factor in our decision. We're wondering since it is SC but on the other hand it is up there in elevation. Please pardon my ignorance of the area and proper posting of this question- not sure if it is technically ok to ask this here but I guess it is discussion related enough since it is relevant regarding information about the city and climate of the area. A pic with a palm in Spartansburg (if there are any) would be a cool addition to the article, too(just a suggestion).
There aren't really palmetto trees in Spartanburg or in the upcountry of SC in general. We're way too close to the mountains here. That's news to me. Everyone I know thinks of it as a grease pit, not good Southern cooking. And Kenneth Law is a famous person? Since when? He was my brother's cello teacher. And the Hub City as a nickname? I've never heard that one before. We use Sparkle City all the time but I've NEVER heard anyone refer to it as Hub City.-- Hbutterfly 21:57, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
- True ive never HEARD anyone refer to Spartanburg as the "Hub City" but I can think of a few places around town that ive seen the nickname. Google Search reveals strong connections.
- The name goes back to the 1800s: from [1] "During the late 1800s and the turn of the 20th century Spartanburg was often called "Hub City," as almost 90 trains stopped or passed through daily."

- While the article might not have been right about "good southern cooking," the Beacon is a "landmark" in its own right. Today however, the "grease pit" style of cooking you referred to is not as enjoyed by many (me included). Still, it is an attraction that Spartanburg offers.
- Kenneth Law is probably the best cellist in Spartanburg, but I still don't believe he would probably qualify as a "Famous person."
- I have however heard Spartanburg referred to as both "Hub City" and "Sparkle City."

i live in greer, my mom lives in spartanburg and i have to say... spartanburg has a LOT of slums and ghettos. also not stated here is its rich history of supposed witchcraft going back hundreds of years. i dont really know that much about it, ive been looking for information on it. but about the beacon, yes the beacon is a landmark, when famous people come to the "upstate" they go there quite often. i have a recording of the band LIVE performing at the beacon too. also there are some musical venues in spartanburg worth noting, the most well knwon being groundzero, which caters mainly to local bands but occasionaly has a nationally popular band play there.

Spartanburg Christian Academy is a ministry of the First Bapstist Church of North Spartanburg located at 8740 Asheville Highway. Our goal is to assist our students in becoming well-educated, equipped with a biblical worldview, and exhibit a heart for Christ.
SCA offers classes starting in preschool up to 12th grade. We have approaximately 550 students and our graduates have been accepted at various collegs across the nation but locally at Clemson, Wofford, College of Charleston and the Citadel.
SCA not only provides a strong academic program with our students placing in the Final Four in 2005 at the "Battle of the Brains", but an outstanding athletic program as well that has recently produced seven state champoinship teams. These include two golf championships, two varsity girl's volleyball and two cross country championships along with a varsity boy's basketball championship. We also offer a very active band, choral department and competitive cheer squad for those who are interested.

- Respectfully, the Slobot character might seem off the wall or inappropriate for wiki without looking into the content, but it is a professional multimedia outlet covering specifically Spartanburg landmarks and events with the platform of the main local paper to the city. Slobot has a bi-weekly pictorial in the goupstate section of the Herald Journal and deserves recognition from this site just as much so as any other link posted. I urge the editors of this site to have patience with these posters from Slobot, and to take into consideration the awareness of the interesting nooks and crannies being brought to light by their creative projects. - Three administrators have looked at the site, and have all determined that it is not appropriate for Wikipedia. It's cute, but not encyclopedic. In addition, the proponents of the link, have heretofore acted as typical spammers would - with instant reverts, demands, and personal attacks, rather than reasonable discussion. That speaks for itself. The last admin to remove it was kind enough to give a list of reasons for removal.

- I disagree. Multiple explanations were given and ignored. Furthermore, some of these editors were also in violation of constant reverts as well as false, unjustifiable accusations about the origins of the link.
- History and local points of interest can, of course, be added to the text, with the spirit of improving Wikipedia, rather than simply demanding a link to a particular site.
- Odd, that is exactly what happened before some editors became delete key happy.
- If the administrators wish to declare HERE why they do not believe the content is "encyclopedic", then there will be an audience to listen. However, there will be a lot of work ahead of them to insure EVERY article pertaining to a city/town/etc. also follows this rather vague "encyclopedic" rule.

Perhaps just having the link here on the Talk page for the curious to seek out should they so choose can resolve the problem of it being of value but yet not encyclopedic enough to include on the External Links to the article itself. Is there any place for a way of referring to the city that some of it residents call it? I know in the case of Spartanburg some call it "Sparkle City" especially on certain of the mornig radio segments they refer to it that way. Sochwa 06:56, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

the only things the page is missing is that the spartanburg phillies also played at duncan park prior to 1996ish. i went to their last season game on my 5th birthday. thats how i remember. also there were b-17 and b-24 bombers displayed at the spartanburg memorial airport. i have a 50 caliber bullet at home fro ma machine gun mounted on the plane. the beacon is never mentioned from what i saw. but otherwise i really enjoyed the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.143.238.61 ( talk) 22:22, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
How about putting some actual history under the "History" section instead of a list of popular sight-seeing attractions? Who were the first settlers? Where did they come from and why? From what other counties was Spartanburg formed?
This page reads like a travelog put out by the local Chamber of Commerce.

My students at USC Upstate are adding information about local African American history to the Spartanburg page. They researched using newspapers, images, and books archived at the public library downtown and have begun adding that information to the page (Tuesday 11/29) and our plan is to migrate quite a lot of this data to additional pages beginning today (12/1).
