Barbeque

Something useful here would be a link to or a reference about Santa Maria barbecue, which is what many outsiders would associate with this city. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.183.233.103 ( talkcontribs).

Yup -- the city is mentioned in the tri-tip article, but there could be a "cuisine" section here. Antandrus (talk) 00:02, 17 June 2007 (UTC) reply

Farenheit or Centigrade?

Temperatures in the weather data should always be given in Celsius first and then optionally in Farenheit for the American reader. According to Wiki answers, "Only in the United States, Belize, and Jamaica does the Fahrenheit system continue to be used, but only for non-scientific use. The rest of the world has adopted the Celsius scale.". When will Americans wake up to the fact that there is another world out there? Vogensen ( talk) 06:57, 10 June 2009 (UTC) reply

Parks

An article was started for a particular city park , Santa Maria Skate Park]], but there is no mention of any city arks in this article or elswhere in WP. A section should be started here for them, and this article merged in. DGG ( talk ) 16:13, 10 April 2010 (UTC) reply

The Skate Park page is basically a half-paragraph orphan with pictures. This could and should be merged with the larger Santa Maria page. Ckruschke ( talk) 20:13, 28 February 2011 (UTC)Ckruschke reply

6PK

Is this group really notable? If so, should it not be listed under "notable residents" instead of having it's own section. If it is a notable group, is it so very important that each individual member name is listed? This looks like a vanity entry to me.... 78.26 ( talk) 12:41, 8 October 2010 (UTC) reply

Notable people section

I removed John Thomas from this section because he does not have a Wikipedia article which is required in order to establish notability. This is the information I deleted "John Thomas- former Major League Baseball Player". Thank you!-- Fraulein451 ( talk) 17:59, 29 December 2012 (UTC) reply

Although I agree with you deletion because I can't find any "John Thomas" in Baseball Reference.com that were born in SM, it is "NOT" a requirement that the person have a Wiki article to establish notability (I'm not sure where you heard/read that). There are 1000's of people more important than someone like Brittany Spears or Demi Moore (who have extensive pages) who don't have a page simply because someone hasn't taken the time to write it. Steel Ball Run

I removed the following information from the In Popular Culture section:

"In the Japanese manga series, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, a turn-of-the-century race across the United States from San Diego to New York City takes place as the main story of the story's seventh part, Steel Ball Run. A church in Santa Maria is featured as the first stage finish line and checkpoint for the racers."

The church in question is merely named Santa Maria Novella Church. It is a mere 15 kilometers from the starting point in San Diego. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Waynefrob ( talkcontribs) 00:38, 12 June 2022 (UTC) reply
